Vacancy - Administration Officer

A vacancy has arisen for an admin officer at Whitworth Town Council.
The hours are 15 to 20 hours per week, which can be negotiated and can be flexible to fit the needs of the person and the position.
The post is paid at national minimum wage, currently £12.21 per hour for those aged 21 and over, £10 per hour for ages 18 to 20 and £7.55 per hour for under 18s, This rises to £12.71/£10.85/£8 per hour from 1st April 2026. Training will be provided as necessary.
This is post which includes general office duties, including but not limited to:
• Communicating with councillors and members of the public in person, via email and over the telephone.
• Managing and supporting the council’s social media platform.
• Assisting with the production of the council’s quarterly magazine.
• Attending formal meetings of the Council and Committees of the Council and preparing the Agendas and Minutes with the support of the Town Clerk.
• Conducting office duties including receiving and responding to emails, making, and answering telephone calls, use of office equipment such as pc, photocopier, scanner etc.
• Attend necessary training courses and keep abreast of changes of policy affecting the Council.
• To read and understand the Standing Orders of the Council.
• Supporting and organising community events.
• Any other administrative duties required.
