This year, Whitworth Town Council will be taking part in UK Parliament Week which takes place between 13th and 19th November 2017. This will be an opportunity to take a moment to celebrate and reflect on those rights which are often taken for granted but which people throughout history have campaigned to make happen or fought to preserve.
The Council will invite children from local schools to visit the council chamber on Friday 17th November, meet with some of our Town, Borough and County Councillors and also our MP, Jake Berry. Additionally the Whitworth Cubs will be coming along on Tuesday 14th November for their own mock council meeting. The children will get the opportunity to sit in the councillors chairs and hold a mock council meeting to try to resolve the difficult problem of illegal parking, particularly outside our Whitworth schools.
Find out more about Parliament Week on their website, there are also some great teaching resources there too.
