Queen For The Queen

Whitworth celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with ‘Queen for The Queen’

Whitworth Tourism and Leisure Committee along with The Ashcroft are planning a huge celebration of the Monarch’s long service with a fun filled FREE family event on Saturday 4th June 2022, Queen for the Queen.  The event will begin at 12 noon in The Ashcroft carpark.  The line-up will include Idol frets, The Mash Up Men, Between The Vines and a finale with a Freddie Mercury tribute act.  Thank-you to John Meek for providing the stage and to Martin Duffy for offering his services providing the PA system.

From 12 until 4pm, the car park of The Ashcroft will be cordoned off.  Lancashire Hospitality Co-Operation will be providing hot food in their Bombay Brew Kebab Truck and the Ashcroft bar will be open for liquid refreshments.  There will also be an Arts and Craft Fair indoors, featuring a variety of artisan stalls in the Ashcroft main hall.  There will also be children’s activities and colouring and crafts at the TLC stall under the pink gazebo.

In the lead up to the festivities, residents are being asked to design and display a jubilee flag.  Send a picture of your flag to team@the-ashcroft.co.uk before Friday 27th May to be entered into a competition with the winner being announced on the day.

Additionally there is the chance to win £500 cash with a raffle taking place on the day sponsored by RRG Royota Rochdale.  Raffle tickets cost £1 each and will be entered into the draw to win £500 cash.  The competition is open to everyone but the winner will have to be able to collect the cash prize from RRG Toyota in Rochdale.  The draw will be made at 4pm at the end of the festivities and the winner will be announced on stage.  Raffle tickets can be purchased in advance from the council office or online (only available in multiples of 5 online) and can be purchased from the TLC stand at the pink gazebo on the day.
