Information recieved from Lancashire County Council regarding local road closure near Tonacliffe School LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (TONACLIFFE ROAD, WHITWORTH, ROSSENDALE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2022 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice. 1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Tonacliffe Road, Whitworth, from the junction with Oakenshaw Court to the junction with High Peak Road. 2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works. 3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on 8 th November 2022 until 1800 hours on 16th December 2022 or until completion of the works within this period. 4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:- Tonacliffe Road – Market Street – Oakenshaw Avenue and vice versa. The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Water Main Replacement works to be carried out. Anita Farrow Awarded Honorary Townsman Of Whitworth

At the meeting of Whitworth Town Council on 21 November 2019, the Town Council voted to bestow the title of Honorary Townsman of Whitworth on Mrs Anita Farrow. The occasion was due to be marked with a celebratory dinner on Saturday 28th March 2020 but the Coronavirus Pandemic put a stop to the plans temporarily. Finally on Saturday 8th May 2021, the Mayor of Whitworth was able to present the award to Anita.
